Images tools
Image APIs inspect image properties, change encoding or dimensions, rasterize SVG, discover favicons and extract dominant colors. An agent or script can call them when it needs an image decoder, codec or renderer together with a hardened URL fetch. The members separate information about an image from operations that produce a transformed image, so the requested output determines which call fits the task.
image-probe reports format and pixel dimensions from the header without decoding pixels. image-metadata reads the embedded metadata blocks of an image and can return a copy with all metadata stripped. color-palette-extract returns dominant colors as hex values, RGB values and coverage fractions. favicon-extract starts from a page, discovers its favicons and returns one selected icon decoded to a normalized PNG with its pixel size.
image-convert re-encodes an image into another format, returned as base64, at a chosen quality for the lossy targets. image-resize takes a target width, height or both with a chosen fit and returns the resized image as base64. image-compress uses quality from 1 to 100 (default 75) for JPEG and WebP re-compression and PNG palette quantisation; GIF ignores quality. It keeps the source format and dimensions without resizing. svg-to-png takes SVG and a chosen resolution and returns a rasterized PNG as base64. Probing does not decode image pixels, whereas palette extraction and the transformation members require decoding or rendering work.
01APIs
| API | What it does | Price | Max input | Max duration | Timeout |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Color Palette Extract API | Extracts an image's dominant colours as a small palette (hex, RGB and coverage fraction). | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 60 s |
| Favicon Extract API | Discovers a page's favicons and returns the best one decoded to a normalised PNG with its size. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 45 s |
| Image Compress API | Re-encodes an image in its own format at a lower quality to shrink the file, keeping its dimensions. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 60 s |
| Image Convert API | Transcodes an image to PNG, JPEG or WebP at a chosen quality, returned base64-encoded. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 60 s |
| Image Metadata API | Reads an image's EXIF/ICC/IPTC/XMP metadata and can return a copy with all metadata stripped. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 30 s |
| Image Probe API | Reports an image's format and pixel dimensions from its header, without decoding the pixels. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 20 s |
| Image Resize API | Resizes an image to a target width/height under a chosen fit, returned base64-encoded. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 60 s |
| SVG to PNG API | Rasterises an SVG to a PNG at a chosen resolution, returned base64-encoded. | $0.003 per call | 25 MB | none | 60 s |

03Questions
- How do conversion, resizing and compression differ?
- image-convert changes the output format, with a chosen quality for the lossy targets. image-resize changes dimensions using a target width, height or both and a chosen fit. image-compress uses quality from 1 to 100 (default 75) for JPEG and WebP re-compression and PNG palette quantisation; GIF ignores quality. It keeps the source format and dimensions without resizing.
- Can image properties be read without decoding pixels?
- image-probe reads the image header and reports format and pixel dimensions without decoding pixels.
- Which metadata does image-metadata handle?
- It reads the embedded metadata blocks of an image and can return a copy with all metadata stripped.
