Terms of service

What the service is

Grist serves deterministic HTTP utilities to programs, priced per call and paid over x402. Each endpoint declares its price, its input schema and its own timeout before a call is paid for.

How endpoints are chosen

An endpoint is added to the catalogue only if it meets all three rules.

No third-party marginal cost. No paid upstream API, no model tokens, no billed external service. Our own CPU and permissively licensed open libraries, nothing else.

Determinism. The same input returns the same output. No state carried between calls, and no dependence on the clock unless the endpoint declares the field.

Network or a heavy dependency. An agent does not pay for a hash or a uuid: it already has the standard library. It pays for what it cannot do on its own.

Payment

A payment is verified before the handler runs and settled only after the call succeeds. A call that fails validation, is rate limited, or errors inside the handler is not settled and is not charged. Settlement happens on the network and asset named in the payment requirements.

Acceptable use

Endpoints that fetch a URL will not connect to private, loopback, link-local or otherwise internal addresses, and will not follow a redirect into one. Calls are rate limited per payer and per destination domain. Do not use the service to attack a third party or to bypass someone else's access controls.

No warranty

The service is provided as is. Upstream content is returned as it was found, without any claim about its accuracy, and availability is not guaranteed.

Operator

The operator is the same as x402-list.com. Grist services may appear in that directory, which is operated by the same person; the payout wallets are separate.
